"Stressful because of what I have stated above."

About: Manor Hospital

What I liked

Ward 2. The staff worked together well and their opinions on my Dad's were sound and logical.

What could be improved

My Dad is currently on Ward 4. He started there and then got moved to Ward 2 ready for discharge. He then got moved back to Ward 4. He is frail, elderly, in his final stage of life and has had several medical problems whilst in hospital. He has been in hospital about 6 weeks and keeps getting moved on Ward 4. We think the total moves are 6 including going to Ward 2. Is this really acceptable?

Ward 4 and Ward 2 say different things about where my Dad should be. Ward 4 say that he should be in a nursing home; however Ward 2 say that he should be in hospital.. We think that he has gone past the stage of being safe to move to a nursing home. How can Wards be saying totally different things?

Anything else?

Are the bed moves to do with meeting targets?

What happened to meeting the needs of patients?

Coomunication on Ward 4 is poor. My Dad had a funny turn and we weren't told about it.

Staff on Ward 4 are never about to talk to. They were on Ward 2.

Thank you for posting your comment regarding your father’s care. I’m sorry that your father has had to be moved a number of times during his stay as an inpatient, we do try to avoid moving patients between wards and if you would like us to investigate the specific reasons for his moves, please do not hesitate to contact us. In October, we started to dedicate Ward 2 to discharging patients and it’s now known as the ‘Swift Suite’. If however, the Swift Suite clinical team felt that your father was not well enough to discharge, he would then have been moved back to an acute ward, Ward 4. I understand from your feedback that you experience on Ward 4 was poor and that you found it difficult to speak to the staff and we are working to improve this, the sister is happy to speak to relatives and if she is busy an appointment can be made. Unfortunately if a patients condition changes the care plan has to change and this may be the case with your father, however if you would like to talk to us further about any aspect of your father’s care, and your experience of Ward 2 or 4 please would you can contact Julie Hill, the matron on 01922 721172 ext 7643 or alternatively contact our Patient Advise and Liaison Office on 01922 656463.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment, all feedback about our services is extremely valuable in our work to improve patients’ experience of the hospital.

Best Regards

Kathryn Halford
