"Compliments to all grades of staff on E.M.U. Ward"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

Brian Bunce

Chairman of the Governors

of The Chesterfield Royal Hospital,

Calow,

Chesterfield,

Derbyshire.

Dear Sir.

On Tuesday 5th June and for the following six days I unexpectedly found myself on the E.M.U. Ward of the Royal Chesterfield Hospital.

I wish to bring to your notice the very high professional standard of care and attention 24 hours each day, every day of my stay that I received as a patient in Side Room 3 on that ward.

At all staff levels, whether the lady offering cups of tea, the lady keeping the room clean and tidy, a nurse, a doctor or a consultant. Each and every member of the Ward Team inspired confidence and gave a sense of reassurance which for me at that time of illness was of prime importance.

During the afternoon of

Sunday 10th I was transferred to the Discharge unit. Immediately prior to my departure the nurse questioned as to whether I lived alone. confirming this to be so I was promptly offered a food parcel which I was told would make it unnecessary for me to prepare a meal on arrival home. This proved to be a most thoughtful and helpful gesture which that evening

I much appreciated.

In conclusion I would be most grateful if my thanks and gratitude could be conveyed to the staff of all grades on duty during my stay in E.M.U.

Yours Sincerely

Brian Bunce
