Recently I gave birth to my first child at your hospital. The room itself reached 35degrees which was unbearable and made labour a lot harder than it should’ve been. I was over heated and dehydrated, no energy to even push what so ever, that along with losing a lot of blood I became very ill and had to stay on labour ward for a week. The heat was absolutely unbearable and my baby had to have TWO heel prick tests due to the first being unsuitable as the putty or something they use had melted due to the heat so they had to re do it which as a new Mum I found upsetting. I understand the ward needs to be warm due to newborn babies but that is unacceptably hot especially when your body is going through something as traumatic as labour!! Each room needs air conditioning to control the temperature of each room so it’s at a comfortable and happy medium and hopefully prevent anyone else from become ill during a time that should be a happy occasion. It’s in fact really disappointing as the rest of the service I received whilst at your hospital was incredible. The staff are AMAZING! Each and every single one of them on labour ward are an absolute credit to the hospital and I generally feel for them having to work in that heat!! They were extremely friendly, helpful, professional and went above and beyond their roles for me the whole week I was there. It’s such a shame I originally transferred from QA hospital in Portsmouth to you as I didn’t receive the level of care I should have (that your staff gave me) but still wouldn’t be able to recommend your hospital to friends or family due to the experience I had in labour how hot and unwell I felt. Credit where credits due I couldn’t have encountered better staff but the hospital circumstances their self which is out of staffs control was completely unsatisfactory
"Outrageously HOT for labour 35 degrees in room"
