In my experience, there weren't enough staff to maintain the patients, so I think the ward was understaffed.
I think they need to accommodate more for birth partner. There was a lack of control over patients phones on loud speaker, slamming around and having 5/6 people around bed till late keeping baby and parent awake who had just undergone EC section. Most partners had to wonder for 15 mins at night to find a toilet and others ignored this rule. Partners were expected to sleep on plastic chairs however the partners being here to help lighten the load on the NHS staff.
If partners stay I think they should be accommodated correctly with recliner sofa and food as if they didn't you would have to get more staff to help the mums who had been on their own.
Chasing up medication while struggling to walk is terrible as this should be remembered by all staff. I had no pain relief unless asked for by partner. And never gave correct unless partner reminded them.
Cleaners and maids are absolutely amazing they remind all visitors its a hospital with new born babies sick mums and birth dads however this is overlooked due to them being cleaners. From my experience, I would sooner have a cleaner look after me than some of the midwives here.
