"I am stuck with 2 pairs of shoes that needed more raise."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I am a war veteran with lots of surgery and lack of movement.

The bad luck is trying to get back with Northern general whom looked after me well with lots  of surgery. I went closer to home as the wife was getting mad at all the trips to hospitals. I now have a shorter right leg as before only more and needed to get shoes raised, the first 2 pairs where done at Barlborough.

I needed another 2 pairs doing and my good doctor got me in to Lincoln county shoe repair department I was introduced to a person whom I did not like, they refused to do any shoe raises as they said they do not do them?  They also lost patience when I took out several pairs of shoes, the 2 already done to show them and two old pairs that needed more raise, they said we only do two pairs, I said I know but they told me off telling me to answer their question only!

They then said they should have not done the two pairs at Barlborough? All I got from this person was a shoe raiser to fit inside, I told them it is too low and if I added more my foot would stick out at the heel above the heel of the shoe. They did not care.  Now I am stuck with 2 pairs of shoes that needed more raise.

Sorry but most comments are to praise but this time it is not so.

Dear Soldier,

Can I please apologise for the delay in my response as I have been looking for additional details to help me to understand this fully.

I am truly sorry to read this feedback and to hear that you are unhappy with the experience and the outcome of the appointment.

Please can I ask that you get back in touch with me via our PALs team at Lincoln, (01522 707071, or pals@ulh.nhs.uk) with your contact details so I can investigate your visit. It would help me if you could quote reference CO541159 when you get in touch.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post feedback on our service; we do value and appreciate honesty and act on feedback to improve the quality of future patient experiences.

With kind regards

Catherine Rees
