"My Appointment"

About: York Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I have been having various tests done over the past 9 months following a bout of (4) urine infections.  I have been diagnosed with an enlarged Prostate and my biggest worry has been that nobody has actually said to me you have or do not have cancer.

Recently I had an appointment with the Urology Dep't at York Hospital and mentioned to the Specialist Nurse I saw about my concern.

Even before I mentioned this concern I was so impressed with her, she was generally a lovely person very friendly and interested in me as an individual not a number on a piece of paper.  After I mentioned what had been bothering me she pulled up all my test history went through them with me, explained all sorts of stuff and totally put my mind at rest and even arranged another blood test just to confirm what she had said.

What can I say, 10 out of 10 for this lovely young lady a credit to her dep't, York hospital and the nhs.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this message, which I will pass on to the Urology department.

To understand someone's fears and be able to either reassure that person or help them through a difficult time is a real privilege. It sounds like your experience was a positive one, with a reassuring end result.

Wishing you all the best.
