"Bad practice, bad hygeine facilities, disgusting..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

What I liked

I liked nothing about the Hospital. I found it dirty. The food for the patients inedible. The canteen food much the same. I found the care of the elderly dispicable. Patients left with their food in front of them, unable to feed themselves. Patients asking for more food, only to be told there wasn't any. No hand hygeine as set out by the NHS. When caring, and I use the term loosely, for patients who have C.Diff, you do not give them oral medication without thoroughly washing your hands, a pratice that is not followed. I would be interested to know what you PEAT inspection scores were the past 5 years.

Finaly, why do you not reply on line. Why keep refering people to contact PALS.

What could be improved

Everything;..........Maybe a change at the top of the tree would be advisable.

Anything else?

Words fail me regarding this Hospital.

If you have contractors in to do the cleaning, then I should review their contract.

On the entrance to each ward it states what cleaning takes place and when..........they should be prosecuted under the trades description act......Oh and filthy hand dryers in the public toilets

Thank you for your comments about the care you received at the Princess Royal Hospital.

We aim to provide the highest standard of care for all of our patients. Please accept our sincere apologies that you did not find this to be the case, and that your experience did not match the standards we expect for our patients.

Across the Trust we have an ongoing programme of audit and inspection covering issues such as quality of food, hand hygiene, medicines management and patient feedback. In recent PEAT inspections the hospitals were rated “good” or “excellent” for food, environment and privacy & dignity. Our cleaning services are provided in house. Our Infection Prevention and Control team undertakes regular training, audits and visits to ensure that infection control standards are being met. But, feedback from individual patients highlighting specific wards or departments where they feel that standards are not being met helps us to double-check the results for this work and take further action where it is needed.

Unfortunately the NHS Choices website does not share your contact information with the Trust. This means that we are not able to contact you, or look in detail into the comments that are made via this website to provide a detailed response relating to the wards and departments providing your care.

If you would like us to be able to look into the issues you have raised in more detail we would still encourage you to call our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01952 282888 or visit their office near the Main Hospital Entrance. They aim to: provide advice and support to patients, their families and carers; listen to your concerns, suggestions or queries; and, help sort out problems quickly on your behalf. If you wish to make a formal complaint then the PALS service will be able to provide you with more information about how to do this. You can also find out more on the Trust website at http://www.sath.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors

Thanks again for taking the time and trouble to provide feedback about your care, and please do consider contacting us so that we can look into this further.
