"Birth Centre (and Delivery Suite)"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Maternity

I cannot recommend highly enough the Truro Birth Centre and Treliske Delivery Suite. I started off in the birth centre where everything was very relaxed and every staff member was very kind and accommodating which really helped me relax in labour. Then when I had complications right at the end of my labour and had to be transferred to delivery, the staff maintained my dignity during the transfer (literally shutting off parts of the corridor during the transfer because I was so worried about being seen haha) and stayed with and supported me from the transfer and through the rest of my delivery in the delivery suite, making sure I knew everything that was happening and that I was comfortable every step of the way.

The postnatal ward wasn’t as good as delivery but I think that was because they were really busy and to be honest me and my baby weren’t a priority, we were just there for observations. However during the night if I needed a midwife they were there as quick as they could be! The breastfeeding specialists were also fabulous and helped me fix my issues with feeding my baby and thanks to them we are both doing really well!

Dear Anonymous

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you so much for taking the time to post a wonderful review of the care you received at our Birth Centre and Delivery Suite, especially at what must be a busy time for you.

I am so pleased that the Birth Centre was relaxing and that all staff were kind and accommodating which helped you to relax during your labour. I am sorry to read that you had complications towards the end of your labour but it is heartening to hear that the staff went above and beyond to maintain your dignity during your transfer to the Delivery Suite and that you felt supported and comfortable every step of the way.

It is a shame that you felt your care was not quite up to the same standard during your time on our postnatal ward, but am delighted that the breastfeeding specialists were fabulous.

I will ensure that your lovely words, praise and valuable feedback are shared with all teams who would have contributed to you and your baby's care.

I hope that you are both now settling into family life back home and continuing to do so well.

With kind regards

Michaela Brewer, Patient & Family Experience Coordinator
