"My mums care while in Hospital"

About: Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 2 (Emergency Surgical) Victoria Hospital / General Surgery Victoria Hospital / Intensive Care Unit Victoria Hospital / Surgical High Dependency

(as a relative),

In August 2017 my mum was admitted to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for an emergency operation ( bowel resection) so firstly i would like to thank the surgeon who performed this operation as without his expertise my mum would not have survived. Mum also spent 2 weeks in ICU and 1 week in Surgical High Dependancy so I sincerely thank all the staff in these wards for there care and attention given to my wee mum.

Mum then went on to spend 103 days in WARD 52 under the care and excellent supervision of there  SCN Theresa and all her staff, I cannot thank and praise Theresa and her staff on this ward enough,.... Theresa always made a point to call in and see mum and i know she had a busy work day but she always made the time and I will never forget  what they all did for mum and the fact near mums last days Theresa again made time to go  see mum as did some of her staff from the bottom my heart I thank you all.

Mum had a few short stays in the hospital ward 53, Ward 52 again, Admissions 1 and 2 and latterly Ward 44.

I would also like to thank the Doctors and  staff in WARD  44 for there care and attention and compassion shown by all to mum right up to the end. They went above and beyond the call of duty but sadly mum passed away at the end of May after a 9 month battle.

Also a massive thank you to the staff in WARD 44 for the attention shown to myself in mums final days it was very much appreciated.

I also cannot Praise  or thank Vicky, Emily and Alison enough for everything they did for mum and myself..., Vicky and Emily for  thorough training of myself to enable me to get mum home  Vicky and Emily were always at the end of the phone with help and advice and near mums time they both still made time and came and visited mum in WARD 44, and i know my mum loved her wee chats with you both i will always be indebted to  you all  for everything you  did for us...and Alison who did everything to get my mums diet and TPN exactly to mums requirements, I am sure she had a few head scratches and sleepless nights over this, ...thank you so much Alison for everything.

Words and thanks will never be enough guys, and i hope someday i can repay you all, i will never forget you and what you did for us...thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything.

Hello Morag. Thank you for this lovely post. I have spoken to the staff in the areas you have mentioned and all are touched by this and say 'Thank you' from the bottom of their hearts.

From Emily and myself and all the members of the complex nutrition team including Alison, Dr Sengupta and Mr Koffman- 'Thankyou.'

You and your Mum knew us very well and we were always guaranteed a happy appointment when you both came to see us. I know both of you made laughter a big part of your lives and you brought that to us each and everytime even when your Mum was obviously so unwell.

Morag you should always remember how much you did for your Mum and if it wasn't for you and the excellent care you gave her she would never had been able to be at home amongst her family or had her '80th' birthday party at home. Your Mum will always be in your heart.
