"Informed consent?"

About: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery - Queen Square / Neurosurgery

when the topic of informed consent comes up it is usually to reassure patients that there care is going to be of a high quality and that they will be given an opportunity to contribute to the selection of the care regimen and surgery.

Are patients supposed to be given the opportunity to choose to be ignored? To be left waiting for a procedure they will never get at this unit?

Are we giving consent for our treatment to be non existent?

What are the facts of this informed consent thing?

How many patients going to be left waiting for treatment that there is no intent to give them?

I would have thought that decency and good manners would leave patients knowing that they will be treated properly rather than waiting for years before getting precisely NOTHING.
