referred by GP to dermatology. contacted by a referrals management company who said the earliest appointment to see skin specialist at the hospital in Chorley was in six months time.
The referral time for treatment is 18 weeks (just over 4 months) and the NHS website shows that for 9/10 patients the average waiting time for this hospital is 33 weeks!
It was mentioned by the referrals management company that other hospitals nearby weren't taking bookings and dermatology backlog is huge. referrals advised the next nearest hospital had an average waiting time of 10 weeks but were not accepting bookings. Chorley and South Ribble Hospital has waiting times for dermatology almost twice as long as the patients right to treatment guidelines so how have the hospital got into this situation? what can be done? nobody knows. Has anyone else had experience or reviewed this service?
"Dermatology waiting times awful"
