I am not sure this is the correct place for me to submit this comment, but I am giving it a try. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant, and a little disappointed with the way information is provided to me regarding treatments. I fully understand that people working in health care need to be emotionally detached to manage to remain in their line of work, but at the same time it cannot be forgotten that the whole life of a 'patient' revolves around their condition. In my case, I receive unexpected letters for appointments and extra scans without being given a reason why these are happening, and my midwife is also unable to let me know why this is so. With opening hours being restricted from 9-5 on Monday-Friday, I guess I am also a little unlucky in receiving the latest letter after work on a Friday, with no other choice than worrying over the weekend, before having a chance to find out what is wrong on Monday. I just wish that instead of sending me a letter with a date of appointment without a reason, I could have received a phonecall to explain why a visit would be useful and to let me know the date that the hospital has picked (although I realise that this may invite discussion regarding the date which may be undesirable), or alternatively, to have received a little more information regarding why to accompany the appointment letter. If this is too much for the hospital to do, then perhaps working via the midwife would be an option, since in my case I am surprised to find out that even she does not have a clue as to why I am invited for an appointment. I just think that since my whole life currently revolves around my pregnancy and trying to be perfectly healthy, it would have made a big difference for me to not be left guessing. Perhaps more than a complaint, this therefore is a request. Thank you.
