"Eternally grateful to ward 5E"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Care of older people

(as a relative),

In March our relative was moved to ward 5e for long term continuing care after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. We would like to thank everyone in 5E for the excellent care they provided to not only our relative but also to us as a family as you all went above and beyond. There are so many of you to thank from Elaine, hazel, alison, Lesley, Catherine, Angie, dr pal and Lewis, student nurse Yann and the charge nurse of 5E are a few of the names we remember however we are eternally grateful to everyone, our relative was transferred from the ward yesterday to continue with long term palliative care at ward 2 which was difficult for us as a family to see happen but again you went above your call of duty to make sure our relative was safe and comfortable as our relative was very anxious about being transferred. We would also like to wish everyone in 5e good luck in their new positions as the ward is now closing. No matter where you all get new posts I’m sure the care you provided for our relative will be continued and stand you all in good stead.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Plendsfam007,

It is always humbling when relatives take time to share a story of this nature at such a traumatic time and I am really sorry to hear that your relative entered the palliative phase.

Thank you for this accolade to the staff; they have moved on to different pastures. I will pass your gratitude and good luck message to the team. Your post is very much appreciated and I am sure your lovely words will make everyone's day.

Kindest regards to you and your relative,

Eunice
