"Knee injury"

About: Buckland Hospital

Visited this MIU yesterday having hurt my knee whilst gardening and the pain is now extreme.

Waited an hour and a half.

Having mentioned to the receptionist that I felt perhaps an Xray might be necessary, was surprised when a staff member came to reception and told the receptionist that she was closing Xray early that day!

Good service!

When I was called in, the nurse was impatient because I cannot walk easily and I use a stick because of the injury and the pain, but she was only interested in telling me that she was doing a 14 hour shift.

If that accounted for her rude and aggressive manner, she shouldn't be allowed to do so.

She said that mine is not a minor injury!

I asked if she wanted me to leave and she ignored me.

she said there is nothing wrong with my knee.

Another nurse, even more aggressive, loud and shouting in 'nurse speak' came in and said she wouldn't treat me.

She said she couldn't see inside my knee to see what is wrong, and I should have gone to my GP.

How would my GP be able to see inside my knee?

Also, I can't get to my GP.

Neither of these appalling nurses seem to have any inkling that there are a huge number of people who cannot get to their GP because of a lack of transport.

I had to ask someone to leave work 2 hours early to take me to the MIU. I went there because I thought I would be helped and that an Xray would have revealed what is wrong with my knee. Much good it did.

I was sick of being shouted at, and nothing was done to help me, so I left.

the loud nurse shouted to me as I limped off 'You can go now'. One nurse suggested that it could be bone cancer, as I have had cancer before.

Thanks for that.

I have had extremely bad experiences of the local health authority before, and have been compensated for a botched operation performed by them.

I use another health authority where I am treated with kindness and skill.

I thought this MIU surely couldn't go wrong with a minor injury!

How wrong I was!

Staff totally without empathy, communication skills, patience or, it would seem nursing skills.

I would warn anyone against going there.

So today my knee is even more painful and I have no way of getting anywhere to get help.
