What I liked
I had an appt in the Gynae O P. 23/9/2011.
I was stopped at the entrance to the Hospital by 2 security men asking where I was going.
I was embarassed as I did not feel comfortable telling non medical staff that I was attending a Gynae appt, but tried to understand the reasoning.
At this point I assumed I would be asked for ID and proof of appointment, I was not asked for either and instead allowed into the hospital.
I consider this an alarming breach of security, when you are clearly trying to ensure that no further patients are harmed by recent unexplained events.
On another note, I was given a Hospital appt within 7 days.......however the details of the appt was given to me via my GP with the promise that the hospital would write to me with the details. When this did not arrive I contacted the Gynae Secretaries.
The person I spoke to was off handed and when I asked where the Dept was she told me it was on the ground floor as if I should have known.
Please note I have the option to go to Macclesfield Hospitals...........their waiting lists are longer, it seems now for very good reason.
What could be improved
Security.
A letter outlining appt details for me......... and a tear off slip with hospital stamp or letter headed, for security, stating appt time and date only.
Training on how to deal with customers/patients by hospital staff. Take a leaf from private hospitals, there you are treated with dignity and respect.
Anything else?
I have 30 years nursing expertise and I am shocked that patients are no longer treated with respect by some staff. Your staff should be made aware that no patients = no jobs.
Its clear that patients are voting with their feet, the department was virtually empty. I recieved an appointment within 7 days, virtually no waiting list, in contrast to neighbouring hospitals.
However the Dr who assessed me was superb.
"Now considering taking my business to your other..."
