Very disappointed with the service we have received or say can’t even receive. My 11 year old daughter who has been living with eczema suddenly had a flare up in the beginning of the month, her eczema spread to cover 90% of her skin was weeping and had an offensive smell. We attended an out of hours clinic due to the bank holiday was given topical steroids but referred back to the dermatologist and GP. The GP, prescribed some oral antibiotics and wrote a strong urgent referral to the dermatologist on the 9th of May. Up till today, we still have not received an appointment, my daughter was writing her SATs then, could not spend the whole day at school due to discomfort. We even tried chasing dermatology department. They agreed to receiving the referral letter but have still refused to acknowledge it and provide my daughter with an emergency appointment.
At the moment my 11 year old child is suffering but the dermatology department does not think it’s an emergency yet. She still has over 90% of her body dry and itchy, wakes up with various cuts and scratches we spend all day moisturing our child with hope that soon we can get expert help. I feel very let down by the dermatology department at Basildon hospital
"Still awaiting appointment"
