"Thursday 24 May"

About: Wharfedale Hospital

Whilst having a bath Thursday morning I was also washing my hair with some shampoo. I suddenly felt a stabbing pain in my left eye. My eye quickly became inflamed. The pain was getting worse so we rang my Drs surgery for help . They were closed for the day. Unbelievable!

We then decided to go over to Otley General at 5pm as we knew they had a minor injuries clinic so we hoped they would be able to help me. Was told they could not help at all as no Doctors available. Never even got a nurse to examine my eye. I thought at least they could have given me an Antibiotic Cream to help me with the pain. Told me to ring 111. Which we did and eventually finished up at the Leeds Infirmary where I was given help by the nurses there. They were surprised to hear what had happened to me at Otley. They gave me an Antibiotic Cream after examining my eye.Started to ease the pain quickly.

Why was I not given this help at Otley General when I needed it desperately?

This is not acceptable. You are supposed to be a minor injuries clinic. Not impressed at all with the attitude at Otley. If you are supposed to be a minor injuries clinic. Why was I not given help when I needed it badly? LGI were so helpful. I was in so much pain as the day wore on.
