"Appreciation for Kilbryde Hospice"

About: Kilbryde Hospice

(as a service user),

I have  cancer and also suffer from COPD so am housebound. I am very lucky that I have family who come to visit regularly, my son, his ex-wife and grandchild all visit.

However I also appreciate having a weekly visit from Colin, a carer from the Kilbride Hospice. Colin has been to see me every week for the past 6 or 7 months, it's an excellent service provided by the hospice. Over the months we have built up a rapport which is fantastic.

Provide psycho social support to patients and carers in their homes. Coordinate a team of volunteer befrienders.

Dear Runningjt66

Thank you for taking the time to post on our service at Kilbryde Hospice.

Befriending is a valuable service that we offer for patients who are in social isolation due to their illness rather than choice. I am so very happy to hear that you value your visits from your befriender Colin, and that it makes a welcome difference to your week.

Your feedback will hopefully encourage others in a similar situation to yourself to consider having a befriender and I will pass your encouraging words to both Colin & the staff here at the hospice.

Kind Regards
