What I liked

I had my baby at BRI in December 2009. I heard some terrible stories and was quite worried about it. My experience was lovely even though it was a traumatic birth. I couldnt say anything bad about this hospital at all.

My midwife, doctors and anesthesiologist were wonderfull and midwifes on postnatal ward were helpfull even though they were very busy.

I would recommend the maternity unit to anybody,

I have also really good experience of ward 16 (childrens ward) where my son was admitted aged 5 weeks. The ward was really very clean (much more compare to LGI where we had to transferred to) and all the staff were absolutely amazing. They kept us very informed and were willing to answer any of our question at anytime.

In the end we had to be trasnferred to LGI as our son needed a surgery and altough I was happy with care received by LGI, BRI is much more personal and homely.

What could be improved

I absolutely hate A&E at BRI and no longer go there. The wait is terrible.

The last time I went there it was Sunday night and I had C-section on Friday. I had a newborn at home and was breastfeeding and had really painfull ear infection. I couldnt sleep at all and was hoping to get some antibitiotics as soon as possible as I felt terrible after all this.

I asked if there is any way I could be seen as a priority (not to anybody whose life is endangered of course I meant before drunk people who had a fight) as I have to be home soon so I can breasfeed my 2 days old baby. They refused to see me any sooner and I was told I will have to wait probably 8 hours.

I left as my baby couldnt be without any food for that long and nearlyt cried my eyes out on my way to the car.
