My surgery was some weeks ago, it was major surgery and I am about to return to work full time. My surgery had been cancelled due to winter pressures, understandable as I was not in a life threatening situation. However, I was anxious as I had arranged for family to stay and work to expect a period of time off. Thankfully, Roslyn from the waiting list team kept me up to date and reassured me about when my surgery would take place. From admission through day surgery to the operating theatre all the staff were kind and informative. Though well prepared by the pre-assessment and ERAS staff, it was still a daunting feeling. The staff in the theatres were particularly reassuring and empathetic in a very clinical environment.
I woke just before I was moved to ward 13, where I received wonderful treatment from all the staff; Gemma and Shona to name just a few. I was treated with dignity, compassion and humour - it was great all round care. I received advice from both physio and Occupational therapists re goal setting and returning to normal activity. I will not forget the staffs kindness and skill which enabled me to be discharged home just over 24 hours from admission.
In addition, thank you to Fran & Dr Sircar for listening and beginning the serious phase of my treatment, Janey & Yvonne (ERAS) for the follow up checks and Dr Lindsay my GP regarding HRT. Lastly, thank you to Dr Minhas an her team. I feel so well. I cannot thank this nhs team enough for releasing me from years of pain.
"Released from years of pain."
