As I was with a friendly society I started off privately at Roding Hospital at Wanstead for consultation and biopsy etc. the service was good but expensive. It was found that i had a cancer and private treatment was not covered by the friendly society.
I was refered to the Oncology Dept. at Queens Hospital Romford by my own doctor and was taken under the wing of Consultant / Doctor Hemmerway and from then on every thing went like magic, Dr Hemmerway immidiately arranged for tests that day and further test soon after and a very short time later I was on chemotheropy. The service and treatment I get there is second to none and I feel it is far superior to private treatment. Everbody from the cleaners through the nurses to the doctors / consultants just want to help. In my opinion the problem is that there is not enough staff and they are all overworked going from patient to patient trying to do a days work in a couple of hours which is not fair.
