"Somerset House Community Mental health team"

About: Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust

I've been under this team for years on and off due to severe mental health problems. I have experienced a few different cpn workers and they all work in different ways and have a different attitude towards me. Not many have taken the time to really listen and try to understand me. I feel like the cpn I have at the moment isn't interested. The best one is really good and is the only person who has had a lasting positive impression on me. But she's now moved in to a different role which is a shame for everyone. Some of the doctor's don't seem to understand English very well which is not what you want when communicating is difficult anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback, we take all feedback seriously. We are sorry that your experience of different workers has been varied over the years, we endeavour to ensure all our staff are trained to an appropriate level so that they maintain the necessary skills and abilities to help people such as yourself. If you are unhappy with your current worker you are perfectly entitled to ask for a change of care coordinator and your current care coordinator will be able to facilitate this request for you.

Unfortunately some of our staff members move on for differing reasons over the years such as promotion, career development etc and we always endeavour to make sure the handover process is as seamless as possible.

All of the doctors we employee are required through their training to possess the necessary language skills to communicate effectively with service users, should you have any concerns in this area then the doctor concerned would be more than happy to clarify things with you.

We encourage you contact us so we can discuss your concerns in person. If you would like to talk to someone about your care in more detail, please contact a member of staff involved in your care if you feel comfortable in doing so or you can also contact our Patient Advice & Complaints Department on 01274 251440 or e-mail: advice.complaints@bdct.nhs.uk
