"Thank you, you may go"

About: Rooksdown Practice

I had an appointment here recently. I arrived ten mins early and when signing in I was told there was currently a fifteen minute delay. Thats normal for most doctors so I sat down and read my book.

My appointment time came and went as expected, then it was fifteen minutes late, then half an hour and finally forty mins late when the doctor finally called me!

The doctor did apologize for the wait and then that's where the niceties ended.

When going to show the doctor something that was only just below the waist line of my trousers they exclaimed, 'dont get undressed!' as I touched the waist of my trousers. This made me feel embarrassed and self conscious, if the doctor's telling you to keep your clothes on how can they do their job to check skin abnormalities? I had had to tell the receptionist what was wrong to get the appointment, so surely they are supposed to pass that information on to the doctor?

After a quick glance at my skin the doctor asked if I heard of a type of cream? When I said no they looked at me and shook their head like I was an idiot! It's their job to prescribe the medicines and know them. If I had known what I needed I wouldn't have gone to the doctors!

They sat at their desk, printed a prescription and passed it to me, told me when to take the medication and then said 'thank you, you may go' like I was a child being excused.

I showed the doctor a mole that I had been monitoring and I know it has changed shape and size. When I said as such the doctor said I needed to take a picture then take another one in a month's time and then I can see if it's changed... I didn't know I had to bring photographic proof to get the doctor to believe me!

I spent a total of five mins in the office. I was asking questions and each time the doctor answered my question they ended it with, 'thank you, you may go.'

They just wanted me out and so I went frustrated and embarrassed.

I don't feel like the doctor cared at all.

I feel that the reception staff are understaffed and to be honest are a little too hardened by the job. They are quick to judge whether they think you deserve an appointment. Also I was hung up on once when I tried to book my appointment

The pharmacy staff next door are very helpful.

When I told my partner that evening about how my appointment went they were appalled and seeing how annoyed they were for me made me realise that it had been bad experience.

Sorry that this review isn't very coherent but I had to get it out
