What I liked
My treatment for colorectal cancer at Basingstoke and N. Hampshire Hospital was exemplary. My surgeon was both highly professional and very humane, and my operation appears to have gone very well. I saw my surgeon and other members of his team every day during my stay, and they dealt with my case, including problems, effectively. My liaison colorectal cancer nurses have been very helpful and kind, as have my stoma nurses. The nursing in the High Dependency Unit and on Ward C2 was excellent: caring, professional and efficient. The ward was very clean, smart and up-to-date, and provided a very good environment for recovery. (I was in a spacious two-bed bay initially, and thereafter had my own single room, both with en-suite bathrooms.) The ward was also very quiet - not always the case in NHS hospitals! I realise that this ward is a flagship one, and so may not be typical of all the wards at this hospital, but it is an excellent facility for cancer patients.
What could be improved
I can't think of anything!
"I count myself very fortunate to have been treated..."
