"She had a lovely day and asked when she could go back again!"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Day Case Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

My 4yr old daughter was in this week for surgery, from her initial appointment with ENT we could not fault the service we have received.

The staff on the Day Case Unit put her at ease immediately and student nurse Holly took the time to answer all her questions and make sure we had everything we needed. She was also seen by Miss Maini, anaesthetist Dr Wilson and Wendy the Play Specialist to make sure she was happy before her surgery.

When she went through to theatres, the anaesthetic team were efficient, made the process as easy as it could be and kept us both reassured. I was given a buzzer so I knew when to go back which was great.

The staff in recovery, Sophie and Theresa, were excellent and made sure she was settled and pain free before she went back up to the ward.

Once we were on the ward the medical staff were quick to come up and let us know how the surgery had gone and give advice for going home. The nursing staff made sure she was comfortable, well monitored and gave us clear updates about when she would be discharged. They made sure we had everything we needed and the selection of toys on the ward was great.

When we got home my daughter said she'd had a lovely day and asked when she could go back again!  The entire team are a credit to RACH, thank you to all involved in her care.

Dear HP244

Thank you for your feedback following your daughter's recent ENT surgery and I hope she has now fully recovered.

I am so glad your daughter has gone away with such a positive experience of her day as it can be difficult for children so young coming into hospital when they do not fully understand what is happening to them.

It makes a big difference to staff to know their dedication to their roles and the care delivered has been appreciated and I will ensure that all staff receive your feedback.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave this feedback.

Kind Regards

Kathryn
