"Insensitive comments from the doctor"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

(as a service user),

I was examined by as male doctor

This doctor spent most of time challenging everything I said, making me feel like I was waiting his time with my breast lump ( even though I have had breast cancer twice before).

They spent more time examining my reconstructed breast than he did examining my breast with the lump in and made derogatory and insensitive comments about my reconstructed breast, refusing to listen to my concerns.

I was sent for the breast scan but the doctor did not put me at my ease or listen to my worries about a family member's current cancer diagnosis and how that has prompted me to ask for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 test to be done, which he wasn't willing to order for me, and simply told me I should ask my doctor again!

The healthcare assistant that was in the room with me as chapparone was great, apologising as soon as we left the room, before the scan and after.

They urged me to phone my consultants secretary the next day and insist on my consultant seeing me and reviewing my scan result.

The healthcare assistant privately apologised to me for the insensitive comments from the doctor.

Note to self;

 Don't see this doctor again.

Why is a insensitive man that doesn't listen working in a breast clinic? I think It should be a woman!
