"Waiting to been seen by Neurology"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

My GP referred me to Neurology at the begining of December 2017 because of headaches. I called the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after 12 weeks and was told I could be waiting just as long again. It would be good to be given some idea of when I will actually be seeing someone? I'm tired of being tired and ill.

Dear NMD

Thank you for your post on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to read that you have not yet received an appointment date and I understand how frustrating this must be.

I will share your post with the Chief Nurse who is responsible for Neurology and will ask for an update regarding waiting times.

Kind Regards

Nicole

Dear NMD

I have shared your post with the Management Team responsible for Neurology. They have asked if you could get in touch with your personal details including your date of birth so that they can look into this further. I would be grateful if you could email me at Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk It would be helpful if you could include your username in the email.

Thank you

Nicole

Is it possible that people having to wait over the 12 week time period could at least be given some sort of idea how many weeks or months we may have to wait?

I do try to understand the pressures on NHS and other services. Thank you for your response.

Dear nmd

Thank you for getting in touch with your details.

We are sorry that we have been unable to treat you within the 12 week target. Unfortunately, Neurology has a long waiting list due to the increasing demands on the service. The average waiting time is currently 26 weeks and you should receive an appointment date within the next 7 weeks. We are maximising all available capacity and working hard to try to reduce our waiting times.

Kind Regards

Gina Clark - Clinical Services Manager - Regional Services
