"District Nurse care in Lewisham and Greenwich"

About: Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

(as a relative),

Want to raise a formal complaint and get actions agreed and implemented on the basis of the below

Lack of consistent attendance to booked appointments to dress and manage an open wound/ulcer, over a number of months with multiple requests/meetings for service improvement, which has not been forthcoming.

Less than 6 days from discharge from hospital, due to sepsis of the open wound/ ulcer, as a result of inconsistent district nurse care, the team did not arrive at the arranged time to change the dressing, which was weeping...

The DN team did not call to say why they were not attending and when we called them, they refused to come out.

I am the daughter of an elderly mother living in a care home in Lewisham

This made my mum feel worthless, uncared for, ignored and disempowered

This made me feel utterly angry, not least given the previous meetings held and false promises made to address the issues raised and inconsistent service delivery provided

This also made me feel utterly powerless, given that my mother nearly died in A&E as a result of sepsis causing other complications as well.

Goodness only knows what people do who don't have others to fight their corner and get the services required.
