"Day surgery"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

I went to St Peter's Road entrance as instructed for my day surgery on my back ,

Having received several emails informing me of the cost of the surgery and a number to call if I wanted to cancel so someone else could take my place "And having type 2 repertory failure I was worried about laying on my stomach " but as I had a telephone Pre Op consultation and obviously my consultant was aware of my health problems I felt confident it was the right thing to do .

The receptionists were lovely and helpful and explained after looking on the computer I was expected at the Monkton suite right at the furtherest end of the hospital ,

They must have noticed I was very stressed and flustered and very kindly offered me a porter to take me in a wheelchair

He was extremely nice as well when I arrived at the Monkton suite I was totally confused

I was very shortly called into a side room to be told I would not be having the operation as they felt I would be too uncomfortable laying on my stomach.

Please Please tell me why I could not have been informed earlier by telephone or letter .

I wasted days of stress and worry I wasted cab fares to and from the hospital ,

You was quick enough to text me several times to ask me to let you know if I am not coming for the procedure,

But I never recieved the curtacy from the day surgery Dept .

Thank you for your kind comments about helpful reception and portering staff at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital. We were very sorry to read that you did not however have a good experience with communication about your surgery being cancelled. We would like to be able to get further information from you about this so that we can undertake a thorough investigation in order to improve our services. We would therefore be grateful if you could please contact the PALS team. You can do this by:
