"Fast track knee replacement at Wansbeck Hospital"

I had a total knee replacement 20th Feb and have been totally impressed with the service from start to finish . The pre assessment completed by the team was excellent , every aspect of my post operatiive care was considered . Equipment I would need at home on discharge was delivered the week before operation and instructions were clearly given to me re infection control . On day of operation everything went like clockwork, the surgeon was fantastic as were all the team , everything was fully explained , the physiotherapists were there to get me up as soon as the effects of the epidural wore off and almost immediately had me walking up and down the stairs , which was of particular importance to me as I was determined to go home that evening. The Nursing staff monitored me regularly. my blood pressure was a little low so I had to drink plenty to get it up to an acceptable level for discharge. The surgeon visited me and give me the all clear for discharge, medication was provided and I was home by 6-30 pm . The Nursing Staff phoned later that evening and again the next day to check on my progress. My knee replacement has been a total success.

I have been followed up by the surgeon and discharged, Wansbeck hospital to me has shown how great our N H S is and should be congratulated on their Orthopaedic department.
