"My hospital journey"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Ear, Nose & Throat University Hospital Hairmyres / Medical/Gastroenterology (Ward 11) University Hospital Hairmyres / Oesophageal Lab University Hospital Hairmyres / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 12)

(as the patient),

over the last 5 years I have undergone many investigations, it all started with being woken up with the sensation of choking over the 5 years I have been referred to  ENT, Respiratory, Surgical and Gastroenterology. all I can say is they covered all the basis

I have had Endoscopes, ENT nasal scopes, PFT's and latterly Oesophageal motility studies

now going into the 6th year of these symptoms we have finally found out that I have vapour reflux thanks to a impedance test

ENT and endoscope also confirmed this.

all the consultants have been truly Wonderful and the staff in respiratory ENT and the oesophageal departments

I can not remember everyone's names but please pass on my thanks

ENT - I can not remember the Jr Doctors name and the tall dark haired staff nurse - both lovely and comforting

Respiratory - Lynn who done my test pleasant and friendly

Oesophageal - Michelle & Jordan - both lovely and caring

Gastro - Dr Sutherland - Gem of a guy

after 6 years I finally feel like I am getting answers

please pass on my greatest of thanks to everyone

Dear dmad,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch through Care Opinion. The title of your story "journey" is very apt; I'm delighted to hear that you are finally getting some answers following all of the diagnostic investigations.

It will be my pleasure to pass on your kind words to the staff and departments you have mentioned..

I hope you are now in a position to manage your condition and associated symptoms.

Best wishes

Joanne
