I saw a lovely gp, one of the best ones to my way of thinking, always attentive, good rapport, not on pc nor writing constantly, yet this time the gp said my symptoms were 'psychological' and asked me if she could tell it to my psychologist who is NOT treating me for my 45 years of mental health illness for which I have been well controlled for the past 26 years, with no hospital admissions into Green Parks, at the PRU - I am suffering from PTSD and my psychologist is dealing with that only.
But this gp had no time for me no tests no examination except looking at my scalp as I told her I am having tingling in my extremities and in my scalp and it goes numb quite often.
No examination.
But, it was all in my 'mind', why?? because I have am 'labelled' with a 'mental' illness.
Usually I can never fault this one gp, I can others, but this time I was so happy to see this one, as I thought something would be done.
I am a fully trained nurse a RGN (SRN) and have made my own diagnosis, when it ought to have been this doctor. No mention of treatment.
Nothing more until I did write to the gp and said similar as this review, once 'labelled' its always in the mind!!!
I got no reply, I wasn't too surprised, disappointed, yes.
That gp is/was in the wrong and ought to realise that.
My symptoms could be for many serious neurological disorders, but I am rather angry and disillusioned.
I really thought a quick examination would be in order maybe at a later date when got more time and referred to a neurologist not a psychologist!!!
Very unhappy.
I wouldn't not return to this doc, as we get on well usually, I can only think the doc was stressed after possibly a very busy hectic morning as I realise.
I will return if this tingling doesn't improve, to the same gp hopefully.
I have no other complaints against this Surgery as its always good, and this is more of a moan by me than a complaint.
"I've a mental illness of 45 years - stabllised..."
