"Shocked and angry that I can no longer..."

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

What I liked

This visit was the most recent of a series of regular visits for glaucoma monitoring. At each visit comparisons are made with previous test results and discussed with me. This action has always given me confidence that my eyesight is being preserved to the best attainable level and minimised the worry of potential blindness in the future.

What could be improved

Waiting times

Anything else?

Follow-up appointment should have been April 2011. Telephoned recently as no appointment yet received. Told will have to wait even longer as doctors have left and cannot get replacements! When I objected, given 4 different numbers to talk to but still unwilling to give me appointment. Furthermore, I explained I was anxious about potential bleeds behind eyes as had just suffered health scare with confusion, nausea and short-term memory loss. GP said small bleed in brain was possible cause. GPgave me referral letter to A and E in case problem persisted or worsened but I had recovered after 24 hours. Told by nurse from glaucoma clinic to visit opticians for checks if I was concerned about my eyes!!
