"Never ever again the worst experience!"

About: Croydon University Hospital

What I liked

The receptionist in A&E who booked in my daughter, very friendly and kind!!!

What could be improved

The lack of communication between staff, there is now two triages you have to go through.

One when you arrive, and then a new system where you are taken through to the major side.

Once you are in majors, i can only describe as a bus shelter you are asked to sit in a half converted cubicle with metal seats to accomodate around 8 patients. Opposite cubicle sits a major triage nurse, who asks everyone in the shelter to do a urine sample then sit there with it on your lap until called.

Then she calls people, there was no privacy when she discussed peoples business as there is no door to her cubicle!

After this fiasco, you are asked to go behind a make shift screen to the soft chairs and wait.

Along comes the blood taker, who proceeds to take peoples blood!

After 4 hours my daughter is called, she had a referall letter from G.P., the Doctor even thou polite did not have a clue. Then told to go and wait again on the soft chairs to wait for blood results, by this time it is nearly 5 hours and no further forward, he then comes back and said blood is ok but my daughter is still in pain still no diagnosis!

I can only describe the whole affair, as it was like when you go to IKEA or a Monopoly board but never get anywhere. A older lady sitting next to us was a diabetic, for three hours waiting for a sandwich as requested by staff nurse, nothing came in the end i had to walk to the London Road and buy her some food myself.

The person or should i say, the crackpot who has devised this new roundabout system needs to take a bigger look at it before something seriously goes wrong. Also a man with chest pains was with us and made to sit there Disgusting!

Anything else?

My daughter and i are so furious, regarding what went on she is now considering writing to the health minister. logo
