I was referred by my Optometrist to Forth Valley Opthalmolgy Dept at the end of March with a suspected retinal tear. I received a phone call on a few days later offering an appointment at Falkirk Community Hospital the next day. I attended this appointment and was indeed diagnosed with a retinal tear. Unfortunately the laser machine required to repair my retina was out of order. However, I was then sent to Gartnavel Hospital this morning where I duly had the laser treatment required. Fingers crossed this will prevent a retinal detachment !
Thank you Stephen, the optometrist, for your expertise in picking up the anomaly in the first place.
Thank you also to Forth Valley and Gartnavel Opthalmic teams for your prompt and efficient service.
You are all a credit to the much maligned NHS
"Excellent ophthalmic care"
