"I wouldn't come here again"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Maternity

I was seen quickly as the baby had pooped in the waters. But in triage the nurse was asking me very rudely how I know the baby pooped, I'm not a professional? So I actually had to show her my pad so she could see for herself which was humiliating.

I was rushed to delivery room after this and was told to push after 3 hours in labour. Nothing was happening and I was completely drained by then. Midwives changed over and I was checked for dilation and was asked why I was pushing when only 4cm!

Very ride when I asked for pain relief and when I asked to use toilet they gave me a bed pan to use while lying down even though I was not in active labour. Was unable to pee so midwife was very annoyed about it and said we can't wait all night and took it away. When time for pushing actually came 7 hours later, I peed. At which she announced to the whole room "oh look now she's bedwetting".

Once transferred to the ward after birth. My cannula was left in even though I was told it would be taken out. It was leaking brown water and didn't get taken out till 5 days later. Their were other women in the ward, some who had mental health issues so I didn't feel safe at all. They didn't let my partner stay although others were allowed.

Requested private room but felt wasn't given priority because of my ethnicity. My baby was not allowed to be carried as he had severe jaundice and the visitors that came were very loud and kept disturbing him. Other patients allowed whole family to visit and I was allowed my partner and one other at a time.

Overall, it was a ridiculous experience
