I got referred to the Peggy Wood Centre for a mammogram and ultrasound after I found a lump in my breast. The lump turned out to be a cyst (which was efficiently drained in the same visit and without any problems) and was nothing to worry about. The mammogram however also showed a small cluster of micro-calcification, which is often harmless but had to be further examined through a biopsy. I was nervous about undergoing this procedure, but all the staff at the Peggy Wood Centre all were absolutely brilliant and reassuring. They were warm, caring, and professional, and calmly explained exactly what was going to happen. The prone biopsy was painless and throughout the procedure (which was over quickly) the staff made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Two weeks later I had a follow-up appointment to discuss the results and again from the warm welcome at reception up to the consultation (results were all good!), it was a very positive experience.
If you, like myself, got referred to the Peggy Wood Centre and are reading all possible information you can get: Please be assured that all staff understand your concerns and that you are in excellent, caring, and most professional hands with them.
