Today I visited a friend who was on the St Joseph’s ward. He told me it gets so cold in there, particularly at night, he slept with a hat and his coat on. People at night are crying out because they are so cold and all the nurses can do is give them an extra blanket. It is not the nurses’ fault, someone needs to actually turn the heating on or there needs to be a serious review of the heating system. I was so appalled at this, imagine being ill and not having a very basic need fulfilled, which is being warm. It is disgraceful! On my way out I raised this with the chap at reception and he rang the helpdesk. Will they actually do something about it? I don’t know, but I would be prepared to take this further if necessary.
