About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Maternity care

Left a review previousley about the antinatal care which was good, had my 4th baby by c sec here in March, theatre staff again brilliant, got into trinity after op wasn’t even offered I cup of tea for 4 hours asked for toast told to wait for tea time I was starving and breastfeeding, was told were busy at the moment, had to send my husband to get me something from the cafe as I hadn’t eaten the whole night before and was shaky, wasn’t sick so it wasn’t to do with that, in the night my baby wouldn’t sleep and constantly wanted to feed I felt I wasn’t getting enough milk as she was so hungry asked for help only to be told were to busy and can only support breastfeeding if your really committed to doing that, i Said I’ve slept for 30 mins in 24 hrs can someone look after my baby so I can even get a cat nap was told we are busy again, felt poorly the next day very sick and hot told the midwife looking after me, she said your temp was fine this morning didn’t even check had even though I requested found her rude and seemed to have a problem with my other children visiting when I asked if they could it was mother’s day for goodness sake I may have 4 but there very well behaved and was comming with my husband, after failing to check my temp another nurse came on found it was very high and my bp was very highl I had to have immediate blood cultures and turns out had a bad infection which was confirmed to have shown up in my blood ended up another two days on a drip in hospital I felt the midwife failed to spot this even when i asked her to check me I think she thought I was being dramatic she had a student midwife working with her a girl who told me I shouldn’t be needing the pain relief the doctor had prescribed me it was orimorf that some people want it to get high she said it as a joke but I was mortified I had had a c section and was experiencing pain also a infection on top don’t want some girl telling me how to feel I’m a married working Mum of 37? who doesn’t smoke drink or never touched a drug I was mortified by this left me in the phone to my husband in tears, on the plus side I found the doctors really professional and pleasent, and am grateful full to the theatre staff they was lovely and made it relaxed, only 1 plus about trinity was a wonderful midwife who looked after me on the last day, can’t praise her enough so good at her job and listenes to women even though it was very busy she tried everything to make me comfortable whilst I had the infection even doing some aromatherapy thank goodness you have the odd ones like her.
