What I liked
Being a regular visitor to the diabetes department for the last 21 years I have a wealth of experience with them. Whilst I was with the paediatrics diabetes team they were fantastic, I never had a single problem, appointments were never cancelled and the consultants were second to none. Now I am with the adult team things are somewhat different. The nurses are still fantastic as always but it's actually getting seen for my review that is the problem. In the last 2 or 3 years I have had more appointments cancelled with the doctor than have taken place and when an appointment is cancelled they can't give you another appointment until 3 months after the one that they cancelled and there's a 75% chance that this appointment will be cancelled a couple of weeks before it's due too. You now can only ring and speak to the diabetes nurses between 09:30 and 11:30 Monday to Friday too and you can't leave a message like you used to be able to so I can't even speak to the only people who actually care in that department anymore and the only people who are good at their jobs. The department is absolutely appauling, diabetes care is not a title I'd used 'diabetes we don't care'...maybe. Please don't get me wrong the nurses are superb it's the consultants that let the team down.
What could be improved
The consultants need changing.
"Not good"
