"Awful."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

What I liked

Triage nurse was extremely helpful, kind and concerned. Waiting time was good.

What could be improved

Our 3 year old daughter is under a paediatrician for double vision, we took her to A & E after she had what resembled a seizure. The triage nurse saw us almost immediately and said she had to be seen by a doctor. We waited 2 hours in the children's waiting room for a doctor to examine my daughter in the waiting room and tell us in front of other people waiting what he thought was wrong. He dismissed our anxieties and even said if it happens again not to bring her to A & E. Our worries were ignored and we were not given any privacy or reassurance.

Anything else?

No privacy was given when my daughter was examined, the doctor dismissed our concerns immediately and our daughter was not treated with the respect an adult would have been given.

The feedback from our patient surveys shows that over 90% of patients rate their care as excellent, very good or good and it is disappointing when a patient's or carer's experience does not meet their expectations. We would always encourage them to raise any concerns at the time or to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison service so that we can follow these up specifically and continually improve standards of care.
