What I liked
I frequently stay on ward 29 for a chronic chest illness. I have to stay that the staff are very caring and so kind not just to myself but to everyone on the ward from old to young patients. I am cared for by all the nurses, and every single member of the team give that little bit extra care that I have never found in any other hospital from Sunderland to York, Middlesbrough to Darlington!
I would like to mention a particular member of staff on the ward The ward is the most cleanest ive ever been in and its down to her and others that make my stay a very comfortable one where every inch arouns my bed and bathrooms etc is so clean that its like being at home.
I do not want to put down other hospitals but I have never expericence such a through domectic who while cleaning takes the time to have a little chat with you and you never hear her complaining, she gets on with ther works and does such a great job.
I have picked up MRSA from other hopsitals but with the work they and others puts in I have never picked up this nasty bug from the Freemans and im in this hospital a good few times.
I would like to say if it were not for the treatment of being able to come home and administer my own iv anitibitoucs through a line in my arm I would not be able to go on with my work commitments, study and home life. This opportunity of being able to come out of hospital helps so much as I am only 25 years old and if this wasnt availble I would become withdrwn from everyday life and would probably not have a job.
Thank you too everyone on ward 29.
What could be improved
If I had to really nit pick it would be that the corrdiors in soem of the hospital are too warm.
The meals, cleanliness, staff, porters, domestics are just brilliant in the Freemans so the only thing I could find to improve is the heat in the corridors!
Anything else?
My Doctor, you cant faul,t he's someone who makes it their job to get to the bottom of your illness, obviously this is what Doctors are suppose to do, but he is different and just doesnt just pass you down the conveyor belt of the NHS of basically passing you onto some other doctor when they dont know whats wrong with you. He actually cares, takes an interest in you and also your work and home life.
I have had problems with my health all my life and he and his team are the only ones who are actually trying to 'sort' me out and find out the cause.
"You cant beat the Freemans and Ward 29,..."
