(as the patient),

i went to an NA meeting in warrington for the 1st time (i live i widnes) the other night and i enjoyed the meeting until afterward and had an experience which lead to me feeling that the anonymous part of the group is a farce.

i stood outside smoking and talking to 2 people who said they run some kind of meeting within ashley house, they are ex users but in the 5 mins i spoke to them, i knew all about the affairs of a number of people. i heard some very personal and quite scanderless stuff about people who attend.

if this is what ashley house and NA have to offer then i will not be attending any more meetings.

the things that attracted me to NA to start with was the fact I did not think people would be like this

We at Ashley House offer many varied services to our service users. All of the services we offer here are conducted to the highest professional standards possible, by all staff and other professionals. We would hope that you could come in to see what’s on offer and access the services here if need be. The professionals who work here work to strict confidential boundaries.

We can not answer for the conduct of any other individuals or groups out with Ashley house or those who use the facilities here. Narcotics anonymous hire a room here once a week for 90 minutes. We are not associated with or affiliated to Narcotics anonymous in any way. We have highlighted your post with Narcotics anonymous public relations committee and hope to have a response soon.

Once again thank you for your post, we hope to see you soon. Myself or any other member of the management team here at Ashley house would like the opportunity to discuss this further with you and possibly explain what services are on offer here.
