"The worst ever!"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

What I liked

I have had the unpleasanrt experience of being a patient in your eye clinic. Each time I have attended the clinic it was overcrowded with patients overflowing into the corridor. I have witnessed one of the sisters being extremely rude and ill mannered to an elderly gentleman which was unpleasant. During my first appointment I had to leave after waiting 2 hours to see the doctor and on my second appointment I arrived to find there was no clinic and no doctor available to see me. My third appointment lasted 2 hrs 15mins before seeing the doctor. I have had approximately 7 letters from you some which contradict others and I have been passed from pillar to post between 7 consultants and a registrar. I have had letters telling me to come for a review in September and phone calls asking me to come for my operation on 1st July. I requested to be treated at Pinderfields and was twice requested to go to Pontefracct or 'I will 'go to the back of the list' for my operation. I am so disgusted at the attitude and lack of respect for the patient that I have made a formal complaint. I should, according to your policy, receive an acknowledgement in 3 days but I have not. I find Pinderfields eye clinic quite the worst experience I have ever had and would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

What could be improved

Every aspect could be improved. People could be streamlined so that minor problems can be attended to speedily. The clinic should not be overcrowded and patients should not have to wait for such long periods to be attended to. There appeared to be plenty of nurses who worked well, it seemed to me that the hold up was to see the doctor.
