"Excellent staff and treatment but..."

About: Queen Charlotte's Hospital

What I liked

The staff at Queen Charlotte's in Gynaecological Oncology have always been excellent communicators, explaining what is going on and what the next steps will be.

They have been kind, courteous and supportive, for which I am extraordinarily grateful.

This has made a number of difficult years in my life much less unpleasant than they might have been.

A number of sthe staff have gone above and beyond what is required of them, again, which I am extraordinarily grateful.

What could be improved

The administration for the issuing of letters is awful. It takes weeks for letters to be sent out with results, with my record being a letter dated a month before it arrived. I believe that this is a result of inadequate processes being in place to handle administration as when I have called to have letters faxed to my gp the staff have been extraordinarily helpful.

I have also had a number of issues in communicating with staff over the phone who have not been able to understand what I was asking and gave me incorrect information. I should add that they were as helpful as they could be and were supportive, but I suspect we had something of a language barrier.

Overall my advice to the hospital would be to review administrative processes to increase efficiency which would benefit both the hospital and the patients.
