"ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL"

About: National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery - Queen Square

What I liked

nothing

What could be improved

from the long waiting times to get an appointment ( 6 months) to the long waiting times in the waiting rooms ( average 2 hours) to the lack of treatment ( asked for referral by GP in Aug 2009)

Never seeing the consultant ,

never seeing the same registrar twice ,

having 3 seperate MRI scans because as no treatment had been given the scans were out of date ,

having to arrange for the MRI scan to be sent to the Hospital dept. as they hadn't asked for it 3 weeks after it had been done

being told I'm on the "waiting list but that the list was so long they had no idea when I would be treated".

going from GP to registrar to Pals to consultant secretary to the primary care trust & back round again several times

This would be a nightmare if I was fit & well , with chronic ,unbearable back pain added in I am feeling suicidal

if you have any choice in the matter

I am sorry that there appear to have been some problems with your experience of the outpatient service at the National Hospital. Due to the highly specialist nature of the services we offer, sometimes the period of waiting before an appointment can be offered is longer than we would like. Also the complexity of care required by each individual patient can, on occasion, lead to waits in clinic to be seen by the consultant or an appropriate member of their team. If you would like me to look into your concerns further please contact the PALS office on 0203 448 3237
