"i'm glad we have a hospital near by..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

What I liked

the professionalism of the doctors and nurses that treated my son for a broken hand. the x ray woman was grumpy and refused me entry without explanation. lets face it, when r children need help, we'll go to the nearest hospital and unless you say something if faced with a rude nurse/assistant, they'll go on being rude and unhelpful...

What could be improved

more information when being told why i couldnt go in with my son for x ray... an simple explanation goes a long way in communication... i guessed it was because of radiation but to be told in a pleasant manner..eases an already stressful situation.

Anything else?

unfortunately, waiting is part of the NHS.. considering the amount of people they see, its really not suprising. depending which dept you are going to depends on the time you wait... in the childrens dept i have waited up to an hr.. but also been seen within 10mins....for myself waiting for a local anaesthetic i waited half an hr. but previously waited up to 2hrs... friday and saturday eves are a nightmare if you have an emergency. when my son had croupe one friday eve we waited 3hrs and only got to see a nurse because someone let us go in their place... they have a rush of drink/drug related problems that hold up the system, and they still deal with everyone eventually.. i couldnt do it but i'm glad there's someone that does.!
