"Doctors need to know how to use epi-pens..."

That one of the nurses was kind, friendly and understanding.

What could be improved

I was having an allergic reaction to nuts. I was told in A&E to take a seat and wait!!! I could have died during this time. The doctor that saw me found an epi-pen but did not know how to use it. Before I had the opportunity to show the doctor how, the doctor rushed off to find someone who did. The doctor then made a mistake by ejecting the adrenalin which was then wasted. They could then not find another epi-pen. At this point my breathing was rapidly deteriorating. They then decided to give me an injection of adrenalin. Two nurses were discussing how much dosage I should receive. The doctor returned and started shouting at the nurse for being too slow. The nurse then replied 'Don't you speak to me like that!' The doctor snatched the needle from the nurse and injected me in my thigh so hard I screamed and nearly jumped off the table. Both nurses were shocked and checked I was ok when the doctor had gone. At this point I was delirious and was not aware of much else that happened for the next 30 minutes.

They told me they had a bed for me and that I was going to have to be kept in over night. I was then told that the bed had been given to another patient. I then sat in A&E for 4 hours. My drip ran dry and blood had started to trickle upwards from my hand and up the tube. During this time nobody spoke to me to let me know what was going on. I finally asked to see someone. I had to wait another 45 minutes. When somebody finally came to see me, I asked to go home. The doctor that had been seeing to me had gone home. I had to re-explain what had happened to another doctor who then discharged me!
