What I liked
On Friday 22nd April 2011 I was admitted to Ward 33 and subsequently underwent an appendix operation which was found to be gangrenous.
I was discharged on the 26th April, re-admitted to the ward on the 28th due to an infection and finally discharged on the 8th May 2011.
On behalf of my family and I, I would like to praise the staff ( nurses, nursing assistants and the domestic personnel ) of the ward. The nursing care I received from them all was second to none.
A special mention must be made of two staff nurses and one nursing assistant.
In our eyes these three ladies went above and beyond their call of duty. The help they gave, not only to me but to my family in times of great distress was exceptional and will not be forgotten.
During my time in hospital, it became evident that the staff were extremely overworked and often had to miss meal breaks (without complaint) in order for the ward to function.
The staff are a credit to the NHS and more so, to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
I am now on the road to recovery.
