What I liked

The ward was clean and airy, the nurses very helpful and cheerful. All the hospital staff were very friendly and kind. I felt very well cared for and less anxious than I might have been before surgery.

The surgeon was clear and precise in his explanations of my surgery and all the nurses clearly explained what they were doing.

What could be improved

Although I was on a single sex ward, a male partner was allowed to stay with their female partner in the cubicle next to mine for the duration of their time on the ward. I found this disturbing since I was having to discuss private gynaecological information within their hearing. Having been told that my husband could not stay at the hospital at all during my surgery, I found the fact that there was a male member of the public sitting in the ward.

Anything else?

The staff do a wonderful job in somewhat cramped conditions.
